TeachMe Thursday: Stained Glass Soldering with Alexis

Experience the DCC Makerspace in a new way on TeachMe Thursdays! Every other Thursday, a DCC student or alum will visit the DCC Makerspace to share some of their favorite creative modes of making, with an opportunity for you to join in and learn directly from them! No matter your skill or experience level, stop by between 7-9pm to learn more. Materials will be provided to get you started!
The DCC Makerspace will remain open until midnight for your enjoyment.
About this TeachMe Thursday:
On September 29, Alexis Reyes (Lambda class) will be soldering stained glass in the DCC Makerspace: “I’ll be teaching you how to not only cut glass using various tools, but bringing it together with a soldering iron to create your own piece of art to display in your window. Cutting glass is a process utilizing scoring and snapping to create the shape you want for your piece. Then you’ll be lining it with copper foil, and taping the back to hold it in your desired pattern. Finally we’ll be using the soldering irons and solder almost like glue, to connect these pieces together. It may sound intimidating but once you learn it’s amazing to see what you can create! Join me on September 29th in the MakerSpace to learn!”

“I’m Alexis Reyes, a member of the Lambda class! I’m an international business and supply chain major, but artistically I focus on fiber and textile art. Whether it’s pressing flowers, crocheting bags, or creating stained glass art, I love to start new projects, and finish them just as fast. I can’t say I’m that talented with a paint brush or pencil, but for those of us who love to explore alternative ways art can be made, I can’t wait to teach you this TeachMe Thursday.”
