TeachMe Thursday: Flower Preservation with Joanna

Experience the DCC Makerspace in a new way on TeachMe Thursdays! Every other Thursday, a DCC student or alum will visit the DCC Makerspace to share some of their favorite creative modes of making, with an opportunity for you to join in and learn directly from them! No matter your skill or experience level, stop by between 7-9pm to learn more. Materials will be provided to get you started!
The DCC Makerspace will remain open until midnight for your enjoyment.
About this TeachMe Thursday:
On December 8, Joanna Hung (Kappa class) will be preserving flowers in the DCC Makerspace: “In this TeachMe Thursday, we’ll learn a few methods on how to preserve flowers, including hang drying, pressing, and using silica gel. Then you’ll make your own dried floral bouquet to take home!”
About Joanna:
“hi everyone! my name is Joanna Hung and I’m in the Kappa class. I’m studying math, minoring in nonprofit leadership + social innovation, and planning to start the mcert program next year for a master’s in education.
some things about me: I’m from Rockville, MD. I love to bake and try new cuisines. I don’t do land sports but I love water sports, especially stand up paddleboarding. a few things on my senior year bucket list: go climbing at Eppley, go to a theater show at the Clarice, go on an adventure program trip, and go to a comedy show. one recent interest of mine is floral preservation, so this past summer, I worked with a floral preservation artist (@DistrictHarvests) and learned a lot about the process of drying and making art with flowers. I’ll share some of this in my TeachMe Thursday class!”
