Spring Makerspaces Tour: Keystone Woodshop

March 12 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

In lieu of Design Camps and TeachMe Thursday Workshops, Dr. Lu is hosting a Spring Makerspaces Tour of key creative destinations on campus this semester. Boost your DCC Family with 100 points while you explore some of the resources UMD has to offer beyond Prince Frederick Hall. Any student who completes the entire tour will receive 500 additional Family Points; but, space will be limited for each “field trip,” so be sure to reserve a spot.

For this second stop, we’ll visit the TerrapinWorks’ Keystone Woodshop on Wednesday, March 12, at 5pm. The woodshop, conveniently located on the first floor of JM Patterson, is an open-access training shop. It features state-of-the-art equipment from Powermatic, Festool, and SawStop. The Keystone Woodshop is largely focused on providing a space with high-quality woodworking equipment for training and use by university students, faculty, and staff.

DCC has a special connection with the Keystone Woodshop; one of our own Xi class students, Ray Guzzone, is an experienced maker who works in the space and utilized his skills to renovate the DCC Makerspace as part of his Spring 2025 DCC Capstone project.

Attendees for this visit will participate in a hands-on Build-a-Buddy workshop to learn some basic skills. Joining us? Meet up in the lobby of Prince Frederick Hall at 4:30pm to walk over together!
