this semester's end is bittersweet, in many more w this semester's end is bittersweet, in many more ways than one. effective June 4, 2022, our longtime director, Dr. Jason Farman, will assume his new position as Associate Dean of Academic Standards & Policies in the Graduate School. while he will remain on campus at the University of Maryland, we will sorely miss him in Prince Frederick Hall. his spirit, energy, and devotion to DCC will forever sustain our community, our curriculum, and our culture, and we wish him the very best and brightest future as he takes this next step forward in his career. the link in our bio will direct you towards further details and a very special tribute video, with poignant words from Jason's students, colleagues, and friends.

Congratulations to DCC's Graduate Assistant, Danie Congratulations to DCC's Graduate Assistant, Danielle Abe, on winning the the ninth annual Innovation in Affordable Housing Student Design and Planning Competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) with her fellow UMD teammates! Danielle is a Masters student in Architecture (and teaching an HDCC 208 class in the fall called "Designing Communities"). She and her team's winning proposal transformed the site surrounding Atlanta’s iconic civic center into a mix of ample affordable housing intertwined with grand public spaces. Using a revived civic center as a cultural anchor, their scheme offers a vibrant sense of place that captures the needs of neighborhood residents, from low-income residents and seniors to city employees and growing families.
With Formal just around the corner (this Saturday, With Formal just around the corner (this Saturday, 4/13!), StuCo is holding a spirit week in the week prior to the dance. With each picture submission, you will receive one (1) raffle ticket! The themes are:

• Monday (4/18): Dreamy Monday - To kick off our Dreams, Castles, and Crowns Formal Spirit Week, send in a picture of you wearing your PJ’s.
• Tuesday (4/19): Tiara Tuesday - Good morning royalty, it’s Tiara Tuesday! Send in a picture of you wearing your favorite hat.
• Wednesday (4/20): On Wednesdays We Wear Green - On Wednesdays we wear pin- green! Send in a picture of you wearing green.
• Thursday (4/21): Once Upon a Thursday - Once upon a time there was a time we dressed differently! Wear your favorite throwback outfit.

Hi everyone! Formal is coming up soon, and in line Hi everyone! Formal is coming up soon, and in line with the theme of Dreams, Castles, and Crowns, a fantastical golden goose has laid a dozen eggs!

• The eggs will be hidden over the course of 4 days (4/14 - 4/20), with three having already been found and seven currently out in play!
• Places which are fair game are the 2nd and 3rd floors and patio of Prince Frederick.
• Upon finding an egg, please take a picture of yourself with it and send it into the Lambda-Mu group chat. 
• Each egg contains chocolate and is equivalent to one raffle ticket for the raffles held during Formal. 
• All DCC students are welcome to look for the eggs, but only those attending Formal are eligible for the raffles; as such, should you find an egg and are not going to Formal, please indicate to us a recipient of your raffle ticket who will be going to Formal.

Congratulations to DCC Lambda Class member, @elyas Congratulations to DCC Lambda Class member, @elyasmasrour, for winning the  Amazon-UMD Design Challenge, a student design competition that asked participants to redesign an app, website or experience for a more inclusive world. Elyas’s winning entry was a re-engineered Spotify experience that helps people with autism better access the calming power of music.

We had our annual Repair Workshop last night, where @umd_dcc students brought in their broken phones and smartwatches to repair screens and replace batteries. The workshop is a part of my class’s section on sustainable design, e-waste, and planned obsolescence. #RightToRepair
