I have a lot of fun ideas for dcc and I truly think I can make a positive difference. I am all for community and I love having fun bonding activities for everyone to participate in. I really want to foster an inclusive environment in dcc and I think I can help do that. I’ve always been one to make sure everyone had a chance to speak if someone looked left out and made sure that everyone was comfortable. Being on the more reserved side I told myself that in college I would go out of my way to make connections and put myself out there and I know what could be done to help those that still struggle with making connections. I really cannot wait to see what the student council has in store for dcc this year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7266″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
Corey Bast
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Hey everyone! My name is Corey (he/him) and I am from Bowie, Maryland. I attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in the Science and Technology Program and was a writer for my school’s newspaper. I was the Vice President of the SGA and a member of the 2022 Class Council. I have many ideas including hosting “Throwback Movie Nights” to create nostalgia and a sense of home, and karaoke nights to bring the musical and silly side (#slay) out of us and into the spotlight![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7259″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Floricel Buencamino
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Hi everyone! My name is Floricel Buencamino and I’m a civil engineering major here in DCC. I like to paint with acrylics and watercolor, read fiction, play card games, and spend time with my friends and family. I’m running for DCC Student Council because I love being involved in planning events and being a representative for my peers. Some of my ideas include fun karaoke nights, physical games like dodgeball or freeze tag, as well as any ideas you all might have, in order to relieve stress and just have fun with other DCC members. I was in Student Council and National Art Honors Society for most, if not all, of highschool, planning events, creating art and representing my class, among other things. Although DCC Student Council may be different, I’m confident in my abilities of leadership, communication and creative planning that I’ve honed during those years to serve you all now 🙂
Vote for me
and the next two years of DCC
will be a “Good Journey” 🙂 [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7277″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

I love being active and outdoors, as well as both playing and listening to music (and I may or may not have a slight addiction to making oddly specific playlists). I was also always very active in stage crew in high school, being able to get involved in the process of designing and building sets, running the sound board, and eventually becoming the stage manager. An integral part of being a StuCo member is being able to communicate your needs to the DCC staff members. My time as stage manager has taught me leadership skills and how to be an effective liaison, having to be the main point of contact between the cast, band, and tech crew, in order to run a smooth show. Especially as many of us are still recovering from a time of isolation and virtual learning, where it was more difficult to connect with others, I would like to use those skills I’ve gained in order to make the most out of our time in DCC. Please consider voting for me as a StuCo member and I can’t wait to get to know all of you throughout the year![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7257″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Hey, I’m Dasha and I am excited to be running for the position of StuCo! I am a bioengineering major from Montgomery County Maryland. I’ve spent a long time wishing for (and sometimes dreading) college, but being in DCC, even for this short amount of time, has pushed me into the center of a community that has shaped my first couple weeks in college in the best possible ways.
Having experienced this, I want to lead and facilitate more events like the ones that have been so influential to the start of my college experience.
In highschool, I was Vice President of Falcon Ambassadors, an organization that put together program-based and whole-school events for the student body. Some of our events included pi-number writing competitions (+ pie sales!), diy time-capsule workshops, and freshmen orientation tours.
As VP I had a heavy role in making these events happen. From developing the ideas, establishing budget and venue, to setting up and leading the events, I was very involved in every step of their execution.
In addition to carrying out events as FA, I was a captain of my school’s D1 dance team, where I honed my leadership abilities while choreographing, teaching, and cutting music for all of our performances.
I believe that my skills learned and developed throughout my time in FA and dance will translate to the responsibilities that are fundamental to the role of StuCo. As StuCo, I will be dedicated to creating events that you find fun, entertaining, and easy to bond with your classmates and develop friendships over. I want to be able to provide DCC with more opportunities to grow closer as a community as well as enable individual friendships and connections to evolve. I hope you consider your vote for me as StuCo, have a great day!

Roshida Herelle
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]My name is Roshida and I am running for the StuCo elections as a representative for the Nu class. Throughout my education, I’ve developed into someone who is driven to succeed, but above all, I’ve learned the importance of compassion and helping others. As someone who’s transferred honors colleges, I can understand how hard it can be to find your space in a new environment. My goal is to create a strong bond with you all and serve as not only your council member, but as a supportive friend. If I am given the chance to represent the Nu class, I will ensure that every student’s needs are met and that you are all given an opportunity to prosper in DCC as your most authentic self. I will make sure to gather your opinions on events you may think of or how we could improve as a whole. My hope is to work alongside StuCo to foster an inclusive community that showcases everything DCC encompasses: creativity, innovation, and talent. The power of your voice is immeasurable, and I hope that you use it to vote for me today.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7256″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Hi! My name is Gabrielle Hester and I’m from Rockville, MD in Montgomery County. A bit about me: I’m majoring in Immersive Media Design, I am an avid cilantro enjoyer, and I’ve always been super active in the arts as well as leadership, so what better way to hone my interests than to run for StuCo! Throughout highschool I served on various boards (including SGA Executive Board, President of National Art Honor Society, Editor In Chief of Scholastic-recognized literary magazine), and I would like to extend my involvement into college and especially DCC! I love organizing events, doing videography, and spending time with friends (aka impromptu Jackbox in floor 3 lounge), so I’d love to involve myself in making DCC a more unified and exciting community. Feel free to check out my video for more info :)!

Julie Lin
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Hello! Bonjour! 你好! Salam! It has only been two weeks since the beginning of college and I’m thankful to be a part of this community of talented and ambitious like-minded individuals. Every day I’ve learned about the talents and passions of fellow DCC students, which makes me excited to share my creative outlets with others. I enjoy the arts of origami, photography, mixology, oil painting, traditional Chinese dance, and much more yet to come! Alongside my creative outlets, my culture and background play a large part in shaping who I am. I grew up surrounded by French, Persian, and Chinese culture, hence my trilingualism in French, Chinese, and English. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to bring both my diverse ideologies and many (4+) years of experience serving on a service board at both the high school and district levels. I have had my share of chairing events like peer-to-peer tutoring, creating scrapbooks filled with impactful service events, leading service clubs and district-wide projects, to planning fun social gatherings and celebrations. I hope to apply my experience to help plan events like a meme contest, trivia night, PowerPoint party, DCC Olympics, and maybe even implement a scrapbook of memories to look back upon. My name is Julie Lin and I hope you consider Lin for the Win![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7273″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
Fiona McKee
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Hello! My name is Fiona and I am a computer science major from Frederick, Maryland. My favorite creative mediums are currently creative writing and digital animation, and I’m also a budding plant parent (pun intended). I would like to get to know all of you better and hope to do so through organizing social events for DCC. Being on StuCo offers opportunities for me to think about similarities in our
community and activities that would bring us together. Some of my ideas for events include a mini carnival, a door decorating contest, and lighthearted games such as spoon assassin. I also look forward to being able to get to know and help the staff by being a part of their student face. Have a great semester and see you all around![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7261″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Hi everyone! I’m Mateo Rodriguez, a computer science major in our nu class and I’m running to be one of the 5 nu representatives in our DCC Student Council. I will be an approachable and trustworthy member of the DCC community who will bring fun event ideas to fruition. Many of you don’t know me yet, but I’m confident I will be someone you can rely on to plan events and connect you with the DCC program as a whole. For those of you who have started to get to know me already, I trust you’ve seen that I’m able to give a voice to those who may not have been heard. When there are issues to solve or events to plan, I see them through with utmost diligence and passion in order to achieve something we can all be proud of. If you all vote for me to be your StuCo representative, I won’t let you down!

Hello everyone! My name is Kaisha Snowden and I am a Dance & Kinesiology double major here at the University of Maryland. I am from Baltimore, Maryland & I’m more than proud to say that I am a member of DCC where I am surrounded by incredibly talented peers. I am running for Student Council as a representative of the Nu class because I want to aid in providing DCC students with opportunities to make college memories with the people around them while also getting a jumpstart on their creative careers & ideas. With the help of DCC upperclassmen, alumni, & staff advising, I want to see all ideas launch into bigger opportunities, on & off campus, for each & every DCC student. Being on the DCC student council would allow me to aid in planning events that cater to the futures of all DCC students & are educative but fun. With that being said I hope you consider me to represent you!

Nuha Talukder
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Hi! My name is Nuha and I’m currently a freshman commuter majoring in bioengineering! I live a few minutes off campus in an apartment with my 10 cats!
Throughout high school I held leadership positions as part of several different clubs such as Lifting Lives, a volunteer service group and MocoPride, a LGBTQ+ activism club. On the student council board for DCC, I would love to create a more inviting community for all students, including those who may not currently live at Prince Frederick.
As a commuter student, I’ve often felt isolated from campus and would aim to mitigate this feeling for other students by hosting unique events to cater to students with differing interests on and off campus. I have many ideas to utilize resources on campus with study groups for different classes, involvement with other honors programs, and weekend social events! I would also hope to create a space for all students to come forward and play a part in planning events with an idea and comments box!

I’m a mechanical engineering major who loves origami and music – I’m really looking forward to expanding my creative outlets in DCC! I’m running for StuCo to build a fun and inclusive environment. I hope to bring all my strengths to the table. I enjoy planning events and am organized, methodical, and efficient, and I believe my talents will be a great asset to the administrative side of StuCo and in planning events. However, my most important value when running is making you a part of StuCo. I’ll always be open to suggestions and ideas, and if I get elected, I hope to make input boxes so the DCC community can also get involved in what you like to do![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7242″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

I’ve background in working with teams for events and involve myself in tasks such as promotion (creating/sending flyers), gathering supplies, set up/break down of events and more. However I also like the opportunity that being involved with StuCo will help me learn learn 3 new things: 1) Have a new perspective from others 2) Learn more about DCC community 3) Learn more about the aspects of my creative personality.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7279″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Hi everyone, my name is Brian Wu, some of you may know me as the one living in ‘The Frozen Room’ (2215), with lightsabers and a very cool roommate (what’s up Calvin). My creative outlets include prop-making and cosplay, and I’m very excited to be in DCC this year. A little bit about me is that I’m very outgoing and rather spontaneous, so you know something’s going down when you see me out and about with friends. I enjoy having long conversations about generally anything (particularly things I’m passionate about), so feel free to swing by anytime! Being social is one of my strengths, so I would be very capable in hosting DCC events throughout the year, as required by StuCo members. There’s still a bunch of you guys that I have yet to get to know, but I hope that changes as we enter this new year of DCC!
