So far, we have received funding from two sources.
- A capstone grant from the Design Cultures and Creativity Honors Program ($500)
- A mini-grant from the University of Maryland Sustainability Fund ($244.41)
Fortunately, this allows us to purchase all the electrical components without buying parts out of pocket (solar panels and large batteries are amazingly expensive), but on the downside this does not allow us much freedom in the implementation of the turtle shell since we do not have the budget to put hexagonal plaster pieces on the back of the shell. Instead, we will most likely opt to make these pieces out of wood and put them on a wood panel backing.
