Monique Maxwell, "Highschool Notetakers"

Monique is an education enthusiast interested in evaluating developmental theories to see how humans develop over their lifetime. From this, she wishes to share knowledge to others through unique ways they can assist children to help them to succeed.

Schools are increasingly failing to meet the needs of their students with disabilities that fall under IEP and 504. From this, the achievement gap is widening between students. At the University of Maryland, College Park, there exists a program to sever the distance through the Accessibility and Disability Service. Part of that service includes providing students with disabilities an anonymous note taker to take notes for every lecture to refer back on. This project directly borrows from that program and adjusts it to face the unique challenges in a high school setting, largely due to the reliance on standardized testing.
