Chisomebi Agwu, "Descend into the Sunken Place"

The African-American experience is complex with deep-rooted histories in the birth of America. Despite the intellectual discussions being had in the 21st century, the history and reality of African-Americans continues to be underplayed and overshadowed. Art and music, however, have a way of resonating with people in ways that words alone cannot. Descend into The Sunken Place is an analysis of the horror and psychological film, Get Out (2017, dir. Jordan Peele) which includes recreations of core scenes using interactive 3D objects in a web environment. This project tethers the world of Get Out to our present and past and considers the theory that, perhaps, the key difference between reality and fiction is who controls the narrative, and those who choose to believe it.
